Curriculum Vitae
I'm a 25 year old designer and illustrator from Wellington, New Zealand. I've been designing and building websites, logos and graphics since November 2003.
I'm self taught, with my years of skill and experience driven from a deep set passion for being creative and a love of all things technology. This passion lead me to expand my skill set from simply design to the more technical side of things, leaving me in a rare position among the web industry — skilled in both design and development.
This alone makes me a valuable asset to any team, as I ensure that my design decisions are based around the potential technical implementation, and vice versa.
My skills and understanding include the Adobe suite of design tools, XHTML, vanilla Javascript and jQuery, SVN, Git, PHP, MySQL, and more recently Ruby on Rails and Redis.
I've helped to successfully plan, wireframe, design, project manage, build, and market several web applications, including (but not limited to) MinuteDock, Flatmin, 200 Square, Challenge For Change and I'm Looking.
I've worked closely with more than 50 different clients from all walks of life — ranging from Government departments like The Broadcasting Standards Authority, to auctioneers Dunbar Sloane, television shows like The Wheel of Fortune and charities like Ronald McDonald House.
I'm based in Wellington, but I've worked successfully with teams in Auckland, Christchurch, London and San Francisco.
I'm available for freelance work now — give me a call, send me an email, or check out my portfolio on Bandit Design.
Cheers,
James
